This three-day, practical workshop is ideal for individuals and teams who want to create cleaner, safer, and more efficient working environments. Participants will apply the 5S methodology — Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain — in a real work area to reduce waste, improve organisation, and establish lasting standards.
This course is eligible for up to 50% funding through the Welsh Government’s Flexible Skills Programme, making it an affordable way to build essential Lean skills and gain recognised accreditation.
About the Course
This hands-on, EAL-accredited workshop introduces participants to the 5S methodology for workplace organisation: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain. Over three days, learners will assess a real work area, carry out a Red Tag exercise, conduct a 5S audit, implement improvements, and set new standards for workplace condition.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have directly applied Lean tools in a real setting and developed a clear, actionable plan to maintain improvements over time.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Apply the 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) to organise a workplace area
Conduct a Red Tag exercise to identify and remove unnecessary items
Perform a 5S audit and interpret audit results to measure workplace condition
Implement practical improvements to enhance organisation, safety, and efficiency
Develop and document new standards of condition for sustained workplace organisation
Create an action plan to maintain and continuously improve the 5S system
