Value Stream Mapping for Lean Operations
Learn to visualise, analyse, and redesign processes to maximise value and eliminate waste
This practical workshop introduces the tools and techniques of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to help participants see the bigger picture of how value flows through their operations. Over two days, attendees will learn to create clear, visual maps of their processes, identify non-value-added activities, and design a leaner, more efficient future state.
This course is eligible for up to 50% funding through the Welsh Government’s Flexible Skills Programme, making it an affordable way to build essential Lean skills and gain recognised accreditation.
About the Course
This two-day, hands-on workshop covers the complete VSM process — from understanding what makes up a value stream to creating both current and future state maps. Participants will identify sources of waste, analyse process flow, and create a Value Stream Plan to guide improvements. The session also includes a Value Stream Review to measure progress and sustain results.

Understand the purpose and benefits of Value Stream Mapping
Draw an accurate current state value stream map
Recognise the characteristics of a lean value stream
Identify and categorise non-value-added activities
Create a future state value stream map
