The CSSC Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt is an ideal introduction to Continuous Improvement for anyone who wants to develop practical problem-solving and process improvement skills that can be applied directly within their current role.

Whether you work in manufacturing, engineering, healthcare, logistics, retail, the public sector or another operational environment, you'll learn how to look at the way work is done, identify waste and inefficiency, understand the causes of problems and contribute to effective workplace improvements.

No previous Lean Six Sigma experience or qualification is required.

Eligible employed adults in Wales can study this course fully funded through the Personal Learning Account (PLA).

About the Course

Lean Six Sigma is a widely used approach to improving quality, efficiency and organisational performance. This three-day course introduces the core principles in a practical and accessible way, using examples and exercises that help you understand how the techniques can be applied in the workplace.

You'll explore Lean principles including Continuous Improvement, the 7 Wastes and 5S, before working through the five stages of the DMAIC methodology – Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control.

You'll learn how to:

  • Identify waste and opportunities for improvement

  • Clearly define workplace problems

  • Understand the Voice of the Customer

  • Calculate the Cost of Poor Quality

  • Map and understand processes

  • Use the Pareto Principle to prioritise improvement opportunities

  • Interpret basic process data and graphical analysis

  • Identify the root causes of problems

  • Develop effective improvement solutions

  • Understand how improvements can be controlled and sustained

What Will I Gain?

By the end of the course, you'll have a practical toolkit that you can use to contribute to improvement activities within your own workplace.

The skills developed through Lean Six Sigma are transferable across industries and can support progression in areas including Continuous Improvement, Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management and Team Leadership.

Upon successful completion of the assessment, you'll achieve a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification accredited by the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC).

Yellow Belt can also provide a progression route to the CSSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, where you'll develop the skills to lead structured workplace improvement projects.
