CSSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (PLA Funded)

Develop the skills to lead improvement projects and deliver measurable results

The CSSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt develops the practical, analytical and problem-solving skills needed to lead structured workplace improvement projects and deliver measurable improvements in quality, efficiency and performance.

Suitable for professionals across manufacturing, engineering, healthcare, logistics, public services and other operational sectors, the course teaches you how to use data to understand problems, identify their root causes and implement improvements that deliver sustainable results.

Eligible employed adults in Wales can study this course fully funded through the Personal Learning Account (PLA).

About the Course

The Green Belt takes you through the complete DMAIC methodology – Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control – providing a structured approach to solving workplace problems and improving processes.

The course combines practical Lean Six Sigma techniques with data analysis and project management, giving you the tools and confidence to take an improvement opportunity from initial problem definition through to implementation and control.

You'll learn how to:

  • Define workplace problems and select appropriate improvement projects

  • Develop project charters and identify customer requirements

  • Use SIPOC and process mapping to understand processes

  • Identify waste, variation and the Cost of Poor Quality

  • Develop effective data collection plans

  • Assess the reliability of measurement systems using Gauge R&R

  • Measure process performance and capability

  • Analyse data using histograms, run charts, control charts and scatter plots

  • Identify root causes using Ishikawa Diagrams and 5 Whys

  • Use correlation, regression and hypothesis testing to validate root causes

  • Develop and evaluate potential improvement solutions

  • Apply FMEA, Pugh Matrix and Cost Benefit Analysis

  • Pilot and implement improvements

  • Develop control plans and standardised processes to sustain results

What Will I Gain?

You'll develop a highly transferable combination of structured problem solving, data analysis, project management and Continuous Improvement skills that can be applied directly within your current role.

Throughout the programme, you'll apply the DMAIC methodology to a workplace improvement project, giving you practical experience of leading improvement rather than simply learning the theory.

These skills are valued across a wide range of industries and can support career progression into roles involving Continuous Improvement, Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management and Operational Excellence.

Upon successful completion, you'll achieve a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification accredited by the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC).

Green Belt also provides an excellent progression route to the CSSC Lean Six Sigma Black Belt for learners looking to develop more advanced statistical, leadership and improvement capabilities.
